The commission process

My bespoke portraits are created on a commission basis for clients all over the world.

I specialise in highly detailed, photo-realistic style drawings of people and animals, from household pets to family members, past and present.

I use high quality graphite, coloured pencils and paper to create each portrait, specifically Fabercastell Polychromos, Caran D'ache Luminance Pencils and heavy-weight archival Windsor & Newton Paper.

Below is the step-by-step process for commissioning your own pet portrait.

Size

Firstly, you will need to decide on the size of portrait you would like. Maybe consider where the portrait will be displayed in your home. Will it be hung on a wall, or placed on a side table?

If you are still unsure of what size you would like, feel free to ask for some help, I am happy to give recommendations.

Reference Photos

To create your portrait to the highest quality, I will need a great quality headshot to work from.

The photo should be sent to me digitally and should be taken in natural light, if possible.

Try to ensure the subjects features are as clear as possible, the better quality of photo, the better the drawing will be.

Booking

Once you have a selection of reference photos and you have decided on the size, the next step is to book in.

To book in, please send me a message via the contact me page. I will aim to get back to you within 24 hours. Once I have received all of the information from you, I will be able to give you a more accurate timeframe and estimated completion date.

I usually have a 2 month waiting list, so please take that into consideration, if you need the portrait by a certain date.

To secure a place on my waiting list, I will require a non-refundable 50% deposit, via Bank Transfer or PayPal. The remaining balance will be required after portrait completion, before it is shipped.

I understand that commissioning a portrait can be expensive, so if you would like to pay in monthly instalments, this is something I would be happy to arrange.

When the time comes for me to begin your portrait, I will pop you a message and let you know. I would also be happy to send you updates, if you would like.

Completion

Once your portrait is complete, I will send you a range of high quality photos.

The artwork will be mounted and presented with a signed, stamped and dated Certificate of Authenticity.

Once you are 100% happy with your portrait, the remaining balance can be paid.

Postage, Packaging & Delivery

Once the remaining balance has been paid in full, I will post out your portrait.

The portrait will be wrapped in tissue paper and sent in a flat back box.

Your portrait will be sent 24 hour tracked (UK) and tracked (International).

Shipping costs:

£15 (UK)
